Gangue Rejection / Removal
Rejecting Gangue prior to further processing dramatically improves energy and recovery efficiency.
Gangue usually appears in the ore as clumps that contain no valuable mineral. Therefore its important to remove the Gangue prior to further processing to prevent unnecessary use of energy. The ore oftentimes consists of 97-98% Gangue and is of harder material than the targeted minerals of value. Gangue can be separated from the valuable minerals by different means of concentrating systems. The first step in Gangue rejection usually is the removal of oversize boulders from the ore body.
When it comes to Gangue rejection the shape, size and texture of the ore body must be known precisely to arrange for efficient and optimal Gangue rejection methods.
